06:56:41, 24 November 2020 review of submission by Helix Sergey[edit]

Please re-review Nikhil Sharda draft as I think this is a notable article and will be helpful as well. I request you to give me some more advice on this.

Helix Sergey (talk) 06:56, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Helix Sergey The draft has been rejected, meaning that it will not be considered further. A Wikipedia article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. You offered only press release-type stories or announcements of routine transactions, which does not establish notability. Please read Your First Article for more information. 331dot (talk) 09:50, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

10:25:28, 24 November 2020 review of draft by Fhooe[edit]

Hi, I am from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and recently noticed that there is a German wikipedia site for the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria but no English one. As also english-taught programmes are offered, I thought that it could be helpful for not German-speaking students who might be interested to also provide the site in English. I mainly took the information from the website as there is no "independent" websites which are not taking their information also from the University. As for the CHE ranking for example I took the original CHE source. I formulated everything in an objective manner and only included content that might be relevant for wikipedia. Still my draft got declined... so now my question is: Am I not allowed to generate a site about the University? If yes, can I request somewhere that someone else generates it? Or is the University not relevant for the English wikipedia? Or is it not possible at all to generate a website for a University, for which most of the information that is online is coming from that University? Thanks a lot in advance! --Fhooe (talk) 10:25, 24 November 2020 (UTC) Fhooe (talk) 10:25, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Fhooe I have posted some important information regarding your username and conflict of interest on your user talk page, please review it. Regarding your draft, (I think you mean "article", not "site") Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about an organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia isn't interested in what an organization wants to say about itself(such as on its own website), only in what others unconnected with the organization say about it. If no independent sources write about your university, it would not merit an English Wikipedia article at this time.
Note that each language version of Wikipedia is its own project, with their own editors and policies. What is acceptable on one version isn't necessarily acceptable on another. 331dot (talk) 10:30, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Please leave the editing to someone else. Our original biographer called to say he was being obstructed and gave us a list of users. Therefore, we are doing the process officially ourselves. Thank you.

I need help as this is my first time submitting a Wiki Page. I've submitted it and now I'm waiting will I be contacted through the email associated with my Wikipedia account or through Wiki but the talk area? However, I also added tags to the page in hopes that the process of being reviewed would go by quicker? Is that how it works as I submitted the page and now I see a yellow box on top of the page stating reviewing please be patient that means it's being reviewed correctly? Sorry for the questions this is my first time doing this.

01:33:46, 25 November 2020 review of draft by Siamak Naficy[edit]

Siamak Naficy (talk) 01:33, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

I am unsure as to the necessary changes required. I am writing about the life about a very interesting person, a Persian/Iranian (and a Muslim) man who fought in the American Civil War. This person is one of perhaps 250 Asian and Pacific Islander peoples who served in the War. His life also speaks to the ideas of race and racism to the time. For example, he was also arrested briefly because another soldier decided that this person didn't look White enough to serve in a White unit.

The issue seems to be that he is not yet famous and so, besides his pension papers (which are available on online archives), various military papers, and his grave, there is not much that one can find. No books, no films, no TV shows. As someone who holds a PhD and is currently serving in the Department of Defense, I believe this is a notable person that I would like to research and write about further. My rough summary in Wikipedia could be a start.

Please advise.

Many Thanks, Siamak Naficy

Hi Siamak Naficy You're going about this backwards. You say there are few sources about the subject, some official military records and other primary documents. As you are in the military, and already have a PhD, I think you are ideally placed to write a proper academic article about this man. Get it published in a reputable academic journal, such as the Journal of Military History. That would in fact create exactly the type of source needed to sustain a Wikipedia article about him. 03:41:27, 25 November 2020 review of draft by Mrpmcgoohan[edit]

I got a review on my page Basil Seggos asking for 3 additional sources to verify his notoriety. Could you be more specific about what constitutes verification of notoriety? The head of the NJ state environmental commission Catherine McCabe has a listed page and she is the same stature as Seggos.

Also could you specify which sentence was cut and paste? I am unsure which one the reviewer was referring to.

Thank you!

Mrpmcgoohan (talk) 03:41, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Mrpmcgoohan comparing to otherarticles is not usually useful (see WP:OSE) but for a moment let's do so. Take a good look at the sources cited in the Catherine McCabe article; they include mainstream news media such as The Michigan Daily, CNN, Washington Post as well as other reputable sources such as the Columbia Law School website. Now look at the sources in your draft, there's nothing of comparable stature. So, dig a little deeper, look for sources that comply with both WP:Independent sources and WP:Reliable sources while containing substantial information about Seggos. Oh, and lastly "notoriety" is not the same as notability (as defined by Wikipedia policies). I hope this helps.Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Help creating page for Joseph Raymond Lucero[edit]

04:51:30, 25 November 2020 review of draft by KatProducedThat[edit]

Hello. This is my first time attempting to make a draft/page. I want to make this page because I want more Brown and Black people to be on Wikipedia. Mr. Lucero is an actor and reformed gangmember who helps others change their lives after being incarcerated. He is an up-and-coming star with his third season on FX starting in 2020. I'm not a fan. I just happened to read about his story and thought it was important to try and document the contributions of more Black and Brown people. Anyways, I did my best to format it to the Wikipedia articles but I'm sure I didn't do everything correctly.

Things I need help with: - I published my changes. However, when I click "add tags to your draft". It says my draft cannot be found. I'm not sure how to fix this. - Could someone please look over what I have so far and make some suggestions? I suck at coding but I'd really like to write more for Wiki. If anyone is willing to mentor me a little, I would really appreciate the help in regards to headings, formatting, citations, etc. -

This draft was declined and I'm unable to pinpoint what is actually missing. I'm under the impression that I added sources and references as required by the various information pages, but obviously there is something missing. I would like to get to know what this is exactly.

Tobias.Vogel (talk) 05:24, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Tobias.Vogel You have two sources in your draft; a topic must be covered in multiple independent reliable sources. There is no specific number required, but most reviewers look for at least three. The draft should then summarizes those sources. 331dot (talk) 09:13, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

05:58:54, 25 November 2020 review of submission by Pulkit3893[edit]

I've tried to be neutral with the language and tone of the submission; will trim it down further. Though it's my first submission, I did thoroughly study the guidelines for Wikipedia. I do understand the same is pretty vast and the importance of keeping the submissions and final approvals in alignment with the guidelines, I really would appreciate getting an immaculate understanding of the gaps, so that I can bridge them accordingly. The work by the artist in submission is unique, notable and inspiration for many.

We also have various other micro-artists as well with similar profiles(, which initially inspired me to write this page for Dheeraj Kolla.

Please do let me know, how can I align it with the requisite guidelines and I shall make the necessary changes.

Kingdom2020 (talk) 07:38, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

I want to know how I can improve for my article for it to be published like how can I make changes for it to be specific on a certain topic or why was the article not submitted for because of some reason.

Kingdom2020 (talk) 07:40, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Kingdom2020, sorry, as the topic is made up, it's impossible for it to have any sort of coverage which would show notability, apart from made up places (out of context which assert that they are real), being inappropriate for Wikipedia. Looking at it, there isn't anything you can do which would allow the article to be accepted. Dylsss(talk contribs) 08:21, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
Kingdom2020 In order for your micronation to merit an article, independent reliable sources that you have nothing to do with must have written about your micronation extensively, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. There are micronations that do merit articles, such as the Principality of Sealand or Republic of Molossia, but independent sources have written about those micronations. If no one unconnected with you has written about your micronation, it would not merit an article at this time. 331dot (talk) 09:10, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

09:32:17, 25 November 2020 review of submission by[edit]

I recently submitted a new page to Wikipedia about the online music magazine, The New LoFi. It was dismissed on the grounds of having only "passing mentions." To the contrary, there are multiple reliable secondary sources (StereoFox, The London Echo Newspaper) which are independent of the subject.

In addition, other pages that are very similar to this submission have been accepted (see:

Can you please give a less generalized reason why this submission was decline. Specifics would be helpful.

Thanks for you help. (talk) 09:32, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

WP:OSE. If you can wait until like 4 pm UTC when I am at home, I may be able to look more detailed into that. Note that your first argument here is logically incorrect, a source can be a passing mention and still be reliable and independent of the subject. See WP:CSMN. 16:03:22, 25 November 2020 review of draft by Smederevac053[edit]

Dear Helpdesk,

Please clarify the specific reasons for a decline of publication of a new article. The reasons as I understand fall under the statement; "... his submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established...."

I understand the need for the type of sources required in the first place, but all references listed are from the public reliable and independent sources, like critics from the respective local daily Politika (in Serbian though), BBC news site, national television reviews, original musical shows announcements with VL appearances listed and one video also showing VL in performance with the choir.

Please comment why these references don't satisfy the independent, reliable, published sources criteria.

Thank you for your time.

Smederevac053 (talk) 16:03, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

We are not interested in a rerun of the Seigenthaler incident. The draft is lacking in sources for the biographical claims that it makes. In addition, "appears to read more like an advertisement" rarely has anything to do with the sourcing; it's more a criticism of how the article is written. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 17:44, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
@Smederevac053: Taking the BBC source that you mentioned, it is an interview, which means that while it is from a reliable published source, it is not independent, as an interview relies on the subject's participation as a source of the content. Interviews don't help to establish notability. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:46, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Remembering the Policies of Wikipedia for submitting a New Profile, I contributed for an Indian Writer named Swati Bol. I believe that al the information that I provided are surely correct from my side. Digitalgoutam (talk) 18:00, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

@Digitalgoutam: WIkipedia does not contain "profiles", Wikipedia contains 'encyclopedic articles, mainly based on what reliable sources have decided to write about the subject without being feed. In addition, we are not interested in a rerun of the Seigenthaler incident. The draft is extremely hard to read, as many sentences start with "she". That may be appropiate in essays or newspaper articles as a stylistic device, but not on Wikipedia. Victor Schmidt (talk) 18:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

19:51:36, 25 November 2020 review of draft by ShariRobertsPR[edit]

I am in serious need of help trying to have my page Carlos Eugene Moore approved and moved to the articles section. No matter how many edits I make to the page, each and every reviewer finds something to disapprove it for. I have finally finished editing it based on the latest comment, and now it was disapproved for "sounding like an article" and "having too many junk sources," which was never mentioned in ANY of the other comments. I can not win. Please help me. ShariRobertsPR (talk) 19:51, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

ShariRobertsPR (talk) 19:51, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

@ShariRobertsPR: There is no guarantee that the article will be advanced to live space. To address your confusion, the first time the article was declined, (which I can see in the deletion history) it was because there were insufficient inline citations in a massive wall of text. It would be very difficult for our volunteers to verify the claims made in the article if none of the references are properly added in-line. The second time it was declined, was because an editor found that it was a giant copyright violation, with large swaths of content having been copied from a website related to the subject. That's also why the article was deleted. I'm sure you can imagine why the community doesn't want Wikipedia to be complicit shills in the theft of someone's intellectual property, right? These both seem to be pretty fast declines, and I don't see why someone would have read the article any further. After you recreated the article, it was declined for having poor sources and sounding like an advertisement, (not for "sounding like an article") and that's not surprising, since it appears you restored most of the copyright violations. And if you restored most of the copyright violations, it should not be surprising to you that it was declined yet again for containing copyright violations, just like what happened before. I understand that you would like reliable sources, however, Miss Raisa is not well known, therefore there is not much information about her accessible. I have spoken with her personally and watched HER personal YouTube videos to gain knowledge. The point of this Wiki page would be to bring more attention and provide more accessible public information. Airyami (talk) 16:49, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

Our job is not to spread the word about someone. In order for there to be an article, she must have been written about at length by multiple third-party sources. 21:56:22, 26 November 2020 review of submission by Ninquelosse[edit]

I want to start work on a new article about musician James Kirby.

Kirby is best known for his side project, The Caretaker (musician), which I spent a lot of time on this evening getting it up to a substantial article; but before that, he ran the record label V/Vm and released his own music through that. Kirby is absurdly prolific and frequently releases rough music or deletes everything from availability, making his discography both infinite and undocumentable, and each of these periods have very different influences and mood; this makes me feel that a single Kirby page is completely unworkable.

I want to make a new James Kirby page, which would focus on his life biography, with an overview of his music projects with a little information about each (including his work as Leyland Kirby and the Stranger and his other labels, which aren't notable enough for their own page), and then links to The Caretaker and V/Vm where those phases were explored in more detail (with a focus on releases, collaborators and music criticism). I feel his ouvre is complicated and messy enough that a single launchpad/hub with detailed branches each dedicated to a single idea is a less cluttered approach than trying to wrangle it into a single, long page.

But before I do that work I want to check that Kirby is independently notable enough, separating the pages like this is a good idea, and generally good wiki style. Cheers all.

EDIT TO ADD: I made a sample template of the new article, showing the structure and key areas it would cover, so you can see how it would differ from the current Caretaker and V/Vm pages

I submitted an article for Sandbanks Provincial Park in Newfoundland and it was rejected because the person who reviewed it did not realize the existing Sandbanks Provincial Park page is for a completely different provincial park in Ontario. They are not the same park and require different pages.

How do I get someone to sort this out? The article should not be rejected on these grounds as it is an error on the part of the reviewer.

Hi @Emediapro: First things first, please do not remove review templates, and do not resubmit the draft until you have made updates to the draft to resolve the reviewer's comments. In regards to your draft: Wikipedia article subjects need to be notable. What this means: Udit Bhanu needs to have received significant attention from multiple reliable and independent sources. It does not appear that there is enough coverage of Bhanu at this time to consider him notable for Wikipedia, and the article cannot be published. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 07:53, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

06:59:16, 27 November 2020 review of draft by Eb404[edit]

I've created a draft page and I'm trying to add some WikiProject tags to it. So I'm going to this page (linked from the draft article): Seeing the URL, I guess the name of the draft page should appear in the entry "Enter draft page title:", but it doesn't. And if I try to enter it manually, it doesn't appear in the choices. If I enter it anyway, it appears in red, which usually means there's something wrong. As you can see, the draft page name is "Null Positiv". Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Or should I just not care about the red and add tags anyway? Thanks! Eb404 (talk) 06:59, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

@Eb404: the input box expect's the draft's title including the "Draft:"-prefix, i.e. "Draft:Null Positiv", instead of "Null Positiv". I have also altered the instructions at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Add_WikiProject_tags to speficially mention this, since you are not the first one to fail for that reason. Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything the company has to say about themselves. It is only interested in what people who have no connection with them have chosen to publish about them. The article should be limited to a summary of what such independent sources have said about them. Notability is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Nothing to indicate that it would pass Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Theroadislong (talk) 13:54, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

I did a google search, and it looks like this is a classic case of WP:TOOSOON. Only WP:UGC stuff, and a bunch of other runreliable sources. Long text, short meaning: Not notable yet. Maybe try something different. Note that no amount of editing can circumvent missing notability. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:11, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what it says on WP:TOOSOON. All the information is correct and I can prove it all. Google Justine Tung and it will tell you she's astroaxus, she announced she's from Arcadia on Twitter, her NVT6 entries are on their page, she's in the credits on Psiren's song, and LA Escape Game is both on her Twitter and LinkedIn. That is 5 different sources. (talk) 17:14, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

It's simple, in order to demonstrate notability, you need to provide multiple references to in-depth articles written about Justine Tung in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books or online. If there are no sources then we can’t have an article about them. Theroadislong (talk) 17:52, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm a new user to Wikipedia and don't understand much because I have Autism spectrum disorder. Can you please highlight the mistakes I made and tell me what needs to be cut out in order for the article to be published? Drhunterhamilton21 (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

WP:CRIMINAL says... a person who is known only in connection with a criminal event or trial should not normally be the subject of a separate Wikipedia article. So it's not a question of what needs to be cut out, it's a question of whether they are notable enough for an article. Theroadislong (talk) 20:28, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
Drhunterhamilton21 Also, you refer to David Ware as a murderer, but the trial has not occured. WP:CRIMINAL indicates that the person should be counted as a suspect then. The article should probably be named something like 2020 Tulsa Oklahoma Police shooting (If it is notable enough).Naraht (talk) 22:24, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I'm requesting assistance by staying in communication about his article. I'll continue to work on this article, and i'll be resubmitting it. I think the article I created does meet the criteria for being noteworthy, and does have reliable sources. This is an article about a person who is widely agreed on, in the important "Vierländerregion" in Europe (the four-country region near Lake Constance consisting of Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and Liechtenstein) and in the UK and USA, as being a cutting-edge technology sound recorder, project creator, and producer. I will find and add some more reliable sources, and try linking this article to other notable musicians' Wikipedia articles (Fred Wesley, Simon Phillips) who laud and endorse the validity of Manfred Konzett's being a person of note. I've read the recommended Wikipedia help pages that were highlighted in the reason for denial of my article, including 'Referencing for beginners', and mistakes to avoid when resubmitting an article. I still believe in this article I'm creating, and will try again with it. Lastly, I am still trying to address the proper crediting problem with image File:Manfred "Little" Konzett working at a Solid State Logic 4000 G+ Series mixing desk.jpeg and other images i'd uploaded months ago, but I think the images are no longer to be found on Wikipedia? Yet, when I tried uploading that image (just noted) once again, a second attempt, there was a window that came up saying this image seems to have already been uploaded, and this time around, the system would not let me complete the photo credit information. To be honest, I am finding adding a photo to the article very difficult, which is a shame as the photos themselves add to the validity of the article. If you have an advice for me, I'd be grateful. Otherwise, i'll just edit and add to the article, do my best to verify everything, and resubmit when I feel it's ready. Thank you very kindly for your time. Beth Wimmer (talk) 14:36, 29 November 2020 (UTC) Beth Wimmer (talk) 14:36, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

It would be helpful if you could suggest how you think they pass WP:NMUSICIAN. Theroadislong (talk) 14:53, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
@Beth Wimmer: It's not clear to me exactly what you are purporting he is notable for. For being a musician? For being a recording engineer? Everybody has to work, but that doesn't mean that every working person deserves an encyclopedia article. A plumber is just as hard-working as a recording engineer, but just because the plumber fixes the pipes of the rich and famous, or uses the most expensive wrenches in the world, doesn't mean that he is notable. So the obstacle here is that you're going to have to demonstrate why this person deserves an encyclopedia article. Did he create any sort of landmark recording technique that won him attention from his peers and the music world? For instance, people are very well aware of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, a recording technique that had a tangible impact on American music at the time. You will need to find references that speak about Konzett and his recording work in great detail if that's why he is notable. See WP:GNG in addition to what Theroadislong has noted above.
